Hello. I started tirzepatide this past March at 233lb. My goal is 180-175lbs. I am currently on my second month of 15mg maintenance dose. I have been stuck at 195-200lbs for going on 4 weeks. Any suggestions on how break this plateau? Thanks for your time!!
New member. Tirzepatide plateau question.
Ugh, plateaus are the worst. I hit one around the same spot and what finally helped me was switching up my injection site and being really strict about my water intake. Also, I added a little more walking and the scale started moving again after a couple weeks. Hang in there!
38 pounds down since March is solid progress, so your body may just be catching up. When I stalled around month five, I started logging my food again and realized my portions had crept up without noticing. Tightening that up plus giving it a few more weeks got things moving for me.
Down 37 lbs myself on Ozempic and I hit a wall around 6 months in too. What got me moving again was logging my food for a week -- turns out I'd drifted into eating more than I realized since the appetite suppression had worn off a bit. Also protein at every meal kept me full enough to not overdo it.
Down from 233 to around 195 is already a huge chunk of your goal, so a 4 week stall there isn't shocking. I stalled around the same BMI range and it broke once I started tracking my food again -- my portions had quietly crept up since my appetite wasn't doing the policing anymore. Might be worth a look before changing anything else.
My doctor and I revisit the plan every few weeks together. My clinic checks in before every increase, which I appreciate. Talk it through with your doctor, my plan looked nothing like a friend's.
Four weeks isn't that long, I sat at the same weight for over a month around my 25 lb mark and then dropped again with no changes at all. Bumping up my walks and getting more water in seemed to help me get past a similar stall earlier this year, but honestly some of it might just be your body catching up.
Four weeks isn't much, I've dropped 53 lbs and hit at least two of those stalls where nothing moved for a month then whoosh. Second the food tracking point though, I was surprised what had crept back in once the appetite suppression mellowed at maintenance.
Congrats on getting from 233 to under 200, that's huge progress. I stalled around the same weight on maintenance and it broke on its own after about five weeks, so hang in there. Tracking my food again helped me too since hunger crept back a bit at maintenance.
Down 6 lbs myself so still early in the game, but reading this gives me hope for when the stalls hit. Sounds like at maintenance the hunger sneaking back is pretty common, so maybe a food log for a week would show if anything's drifted. Four weeks sounds like it's within normal range based on everyone here.
My doctor had me hold until side effects settled. Holding an extra two weeks before my last bump made it a non-event. Sending strength. Just what worked for me, obviously.
I stalled right around the same spot last year and it broke on its own after about five weeks, so that 195-200 range might just be your body catching up. Also the 15mg hunger creep was real for me too, tracking my protein helped me see where calories had drifted. Down about 14 lbs myself so nowhere near maintenance yet, but the stalls here seem to pass more often than not.
Four weeks in a tight range after losing 38 lbs sounds like a normal pause to me -- mine at 215 lasted about that long and then dropped again without me changing anything. I did bump my water and walks during it, but honestly I think time did the work.
