26 down here and I had the same wake-up call early on with an app payment that went nowhere. Since then it's been card only, and having the order email saved actually got me a refund on one dead order. Congrats on 56, that's the kind of progress that keeps the rest of us going.

15 lbs in myself, and I learned the hard way that app-to-app payments are basically cash once sent. My one non-delivery got sorted because I'd paid by card and could point the issuer to the order confirmation. After that I stopped caring how convenient the other options looked.

Congrats on the 56, that's huge. My one bad order was via an app payment and that money just vanished, while every card order I've had since has felt recoverable if it ever came to it. Not worth the convenience for me anymore.

Card only for me too after an e-transfer went sideways early on. I'm in Toronto so options are a bit different, but my one non-delivery got refunded once I showed the issuer the confirmation email, and I've never been tempted by the faster payment methods since. Congrats on 56, that's a serious milestone.

25 lbs down and only card orders for me so far. Had one order go missing last year and the issuer sided with me after I sent over the confirmation email, so I stopped considering the app payments entirely after that.

Down 34 lbs myself and I've never had to dispute anything, but after reading stories like these I stick to card only. The app payments sound like money you'll never see again if a shipment goes missing. Better to eat the small fee than lose the whole order.

38 lbs in here and I'm in the card-only camp too after a friend lost a couple hundred on an app transfer with zero recourse. I've never had to dispute one myself, but knowing the card issuer can actually reverse things if a shipment never shows is worth any small fee to me.38 lbs down here and the stories in this thread match what I've heard elsewhere, so I went card-only a while back. Haven't needed a dispute yet, but knowing my issuer could actually claw back money on a no-show order is the whole reason I pay the way I do.Down 38 myself and this thread pretty much confirms what I'd already settled on: card only. Never had a non-delivery yet, but knowing there's an actual dispute path if it happens beats the "it vanished" outcome people describe with app payments. The small card fee feels cheap compared to

I've never had a full non-delivery, but I did get a shorted shipment once and my card issuer credited it back after a quick email exchange. That experience alone is why I won't touch app transfers anymore -- 58 lbs down and I'd rather not test my luck on the payment side after the work I've put in.

Only about 21 lbs in so I'm still newer to ordering, but I went card from the start after lurking threads like this. The chargeback angle is what sold me -- if a package vanishes I at least have someone to call, whereas an app transfer feels like handing over cash. Glad your issuer came through with just the confirmation email, that's good to know.

Only a month or so in myself, but this thread basically confirmed what I'd already decided -- card only. I've seen too many stories of app transfers just evaporating, and having an issuer to call if a shipment never shows seems worth it. Haven't had to dispute anything yet, knock on wood.

Card only here too after watching a friend lose a few hundred on an app transfer last year. I had one order go silent for a couple weeks and my issuer opened a dispute same-day once I sent the order confirmation -- shipment actually showed up late and I closed it, but the process was painless. At 57 lbs down I'm not gambling the payment side either.

#32

Only a few weeks in with about 4 lbs gone, so I don't have much skin in the game yet, but I went card from the start after reading threads like this. The same-day dispute story above is reassuring -- sounds like the issuer is the whole ballgame. I'd rather eat a small fee difference than risk an app transfer with no trail.

#33

Card here as well, and the one time a vendor went quiet on me my issuer handled it without much fuss once I showed the confirmation email. 23 lbs down so far and I figure the fee difference is cheap insurance compared to an app transfer with no paper trail.

#34

Down 38 lbs and I've never had to dispute, but every order I've made has been on the card for exactly this reason. Watching two people in this thread describe issuers stepping up with just a confirmation email is enough for me to keep eating the small fee. App transfers feel like handing over cash with no receipt.

#35

Only 6 lbs in myself, but I've already settled on card after a near miss early on where an order went dark for two weeks. The issuer reversed it easily since there was a statement record. Congrats on 56 lbs, and yeah, the paper trail seems to be the whole difference.

#36

Lost a payment completely once when I used an app transfer early on, money just gone. Since then I only pay by card, and at 9 lbs down I'd rather eat the small fee than risk that again. Seems like the confirmation email plus statement record is what saves you if a vendor disappears.

I learned the hard way too — lost a few hundred on an app transfer before I hit my current 15 lbs down, and there was nothing to show anyone, so the money was just gone. Every order since has gone on the card, and the one time shipping stalled the issuer took me seriously because I could point to the statement. I'm happy to pay a couple bucks extra for that cushion.

#38

Card user here too — haven't needed a dispute yet, but knowing the charges sit on a statement makes each reorder feel less like gambling. At nearly 70 lbs gone, losing an order would sting way worse than any processing fee ever could. Reading everyone else's app-transfer horror stories confirms the habit stays put.

Card only for me too, and I'm down 84 lbs so never want to relearn that lesson the expensive way. Had one order go missing last winter and the issuer credited it back within a couple weeks once I showed the statement entry. Zelle-style transfers feel like handing over cash to a stranger, so I just eat the fee.
