GI stuff has been acting up all day and I'm running out of ideas. What actually worked for you at this stage?
Reflux kept me up last night, tips for today?
Reflux hit me worst when I ate late, so I stopped eating within three hours of bed and it made a huge difference. Smaller dinner portions helped too, since a full stomach on this stuff just sits there. Tums in the nightstand was my backup when it still flared.
Smaller dinners worked way better for me than anything else, and I stopped eating within a few hours of bed. The reflux nights got way less frequent once I made those two changes. Hang in there, the 22 lbs I'm down came with weeks like this too.
Smaller dinners earlier in the evening made the biggest difference for me, plus leaving a few hours before bed. I also kept plain crackers by the nightstand for when it flared up anyway.
The left side thing helped me too, and I raised the head of my bed a few inches on the rough nights. Ugh, sitting upright for a bit after dinner instead of flopping on the couch made a difference for me on Saxenda. Down 41 lbs and still get flare-ups, so no shame in the Tums backup.
Adding my two cents since I'm about where you are at 38 lbs down and reflux still sneaks up on me some weeks. A walk after dinner helped me more than I expected, probably because I was guilty of the couch flop too. And lying on my left side if it hit at night seemed to settle things faster.
Smaller dinners and staying upright for a couple hours after eating made a real difference for my reflux on sema. I also cut out my evening coffee, which hurt to admit but helped more than anything. Once I hit the 1mg dose things settled down for me too.
The post-dinner walk is the one that surprised me too, I started doing loops around the block around 20 lbs down and it cut my bad nights way back. Also second the smaller dinners, my reflux got worse whenever I ate a normal-sized meal late. Hope tonight goes easier for you.
Only 13 lbs in myself but the late dinner thing was exactly what was torching my nights too. I started eating by 6 and propped the head of my bed up a few inches, and that combo got rid of the 2am burn almost completely. Worth trying the bed wedge part if the upright-after-eating thing isn't enough on its own.
Cutting my last meal back to almost nothing heavy and skipping anything fizzy at dinner was what finally got me through nights like that. Tums before bed helped me more than I expected too, even though it felt like a band-aid. It got noticeably better for me after a few more weeks on the same dose.
So proud of you. Look how far you've come. Hoping the next week is kinder.
Smaller dinners and nothing after 7 made the biggest difference for me on Saxenda, especially that 2am burn window. Smaller portions throughout the day helped too since my stomach just doesn't empty like it used to. Hoping yours settles like it did for me after a few weeks.
A short walk after eating cut down on my reflux. Not a doctor, just sharing my experience.
My reflux got worse before it got better around the 35 lb mark too, mostly at night. Eating my last meal earlier and propping the head of the bed up a few inches made the difference for me. Hang in there, it did settle down eventually.
