Lifting through the loss - todays session check-in
Down 37 myself and the lifts are the thing keeping me sane while the scale drops. I've kept my weights about the same and just accepted slower progress on bench, but legs and pulls have actually held steady. Small wins like the booth thing hit different than any number on the bar.
Down 6 lbs myself and the trick has been keeping protein high and lifting heavy on the same days even when appetite is shot. I do lower body twice a week since that's where I notice strength dips first. Seems to be working so far, strength has held steady.
Down 17 here and I've noticed the same pattern - appetite crashes hit hardest on deadlift days, so I front-load protein earlier in the day. Legs twice a week has been my rule too, squats feel heavy before anything else does when I'm running low on fuel.
Down 71 myself and I echo the deadlift appetite thing - some days it's just whatever protein I can force down and a shorter session. Squats and rows have held better for me than presses, so I stopped stressing about the bench numbers. Eating earlier in the day made a bigger difference than I expected.
Down 37 on Ozempic and the pattern's been identical for me - on low-appetite days my pull session holds up but presses fall apart, so I stopped chasing bench numbers too. Eating my protein at breakfast instead of forcing it down post-workout is the single change that made heavy days doable again.
Down 23 on tirzepatide and same deal here - my pull days survive fine but pressing feels rough when the appetite dip lines up with training. I started shifting my heaviest sessions to mornings and it helped more than I thought it would. Legs staying in twice a week seems to be the common thread for everyone in this thread too.
Down 17 myself and the morning heavy sessions idea from the first reply is tempting, I usually train evenings and definitely notice the press days suffer. Protein early instead of after also tracks with what I've stumbled into. Keeping legs in twice a week regardless of how the scale's moving.
Down 38 here and pressing is my weak spot too, especially evening sessions after a day of barely eating. I started treating deadlift day as the one I protect no matter what and let the accessories slide if the tank is empty. Front-loading protein before noon has been the only thing keeping my numbers from sliding.
Been doing the same with deadlifts as my protected session, everything else flexes based on how the appetite's been that week. Also noticed my pulls hold up way better than presses when calories run low, so the bench ego had to go. Down 29 and legs twice a week has been non-negotiable for me too.
Bench took the biggest hit for me too around down 15, while rows and pulls barely budged, so it tracks. I shifted presses to right after a decent lunch instead of the usual late slot and the bar speed came back a little. Sounds like the protected deadlift day approach is working for a lot of us.
Only down about 5 so far so no big strength story yet, but I moved my pressing day to mornings after reading this and the bar already feels less sluggish. Keeping the deadlift slot untouchable seems like the common thread here, might steal that too.
Down 23 myself and same story with the bench, though my squat is the one that got humbled while pulls stayed solid. I also anchor my week around one untouchable heavy session and let everything else slide if the appetite's rough. Timing presses after real food made a noticeable difference for me too.
Down 41 here and the bench dip hit me around the 20 mark too, but pulls have hung on surprisingly well. I kept one heavy day locked in no matter what and that alone seems to have saved most of my strength. Eating something real before pressing was the other piece that helped me.
Down 29 and the squat was my humbling too, bench caught back up once I stopped training it fasted. The one locked-in heavy day is doing all the load-bearing for me as well.
Down 48 on Victoza here and the squat humbling hit me too. Keeping one heavy day untouchable is the only thing I refused to drop, and timing my bench after actual food made a real difference. Pulls barely noticed the weight loss, funny enough.
Only down 7 so far but I've already noticed my presses feeling heavier on days I skip eating first. Reading this thread convinced me to lock in one heavy session a week before the drops get bigger. Pulls holding steady so far, so hopefully that trend keeps up.
Down 34 and same story here - my squat dipped early on but came back once I made that heavy day non-negotiable. Deadlifts never even flinched, weirdly. Eating something before bench made a bigger difference than I expected.
Only 17 down so far but I'm seeing the same split - rows and deadlifts don't care about the scale, while my bench lives and dies by whether I've had a real meal beforehand. I protect one heavy squat session a week too and it's the only thing that's kept my legs from sliding while the cuts tighten.
Down 45 and the pattern held the whole way for me too - hinge movements barely noticed the scale, but my overhead press sagged until I started treating pre-lift protein as non-negotiable. Squats wobbled around the 30 lb mark then steadied once I stopped chasing PRs and just kept one heavy day locked in. Seems like the pressing lifts are just the canary in the coal mine during a cut.
