Looking for protein shake recommendations that don't turn my stomach. The chalky ones are a hard no right now.
What are you eating on injection day?
Premier Protein cleared for me even when everything else tasted like chalk, and mixing the vanilla with cold brewed coffee made it go down easier during the rougher weeks early on. Down 45 lbs and shakes on shot days are still my fallback when solids feel like too much.
Fairlife Core Power went down easy for me even on queasy days, way smoother than the powders I'd choked down before. Premere Protein was okay too but a little sweet for my taste. Cold helps a lot with the texture thing.
Fairlife Core Power shakes were the only ones I could stomach early on, super smooth and no chalk taste. I keep them for injection day specifically since solid protein is a gamble for me that evening.
Fairlife Core Power shakes went down easy for me even on queasy days, and the chocolate one actually helped me hit protein while losing my first 15 lbs. The thinner texture is what saved me from the chalky ones.
Fairlife Core Power shakes were the only ones I could stomach early on, they taste like chocolate milk instead of chalk. Mixing unflavored collagen into my coffee helped on queasy injection days too. No way I'd have lost 65 lbs drinking the gritty stuff, that's for sure.
Another vote for Fairlife here, and serving it ice cold from the fridge made a bigger difference for me than the brand did. Chocolate was the flavor I could actually get down at 10mg even when my stomach was off.
Another vote for Fairlife Core Power here, the chocolate one got me through some rough shot evenings when 27 lbs of progress made me too nervous to risk eating anything else. Serving it ice cold was the trick for me too, room temp made the texture way worse.
Premier Protein was too chalky for me but the Fairlife chocolate went down easy, and the ice cold thing is real, I started blending mine with a handful of ice and it helped even more. Down 30 lbs myself and shot day is still a shake-only evening for me.
The ultra-filtered dairy kind went down way easier for me than the whey powders ever did, way less of that chalky mouthfeel. I also found cold matters more than flavor, straight from the fridge or blended with ice. Shot evenings are basically shake-only for me too and that hasnt slowed anything down across 56 lbs lost.
Whey powder was what I had to bail on too, the texture alone was enough some days. Fairlife chocolate blended with ice was the one thing I could reliably finish on shot evenings, down 34 lbs and that routine still holds up.
Fairlife was my pick too, though I lean toward the vanilla since chocolate got old fast. Adding frozen banana instead of ice made it taste more like a milkshake and helped me actually finish it. 26 lbs in and I still keep a few bottles stocked just for injection nights.
Premier Protein was too chalky for me too, but the Fairlife core power ones went down fine on shot nights. Blending in a scoop of peanut butter powder helped cover any weird aftertaste when food aversions were worst.
Only 5 lbs in so far but shot nights have been way easier since I switched to the Fairlife chocolate too. Wasn't expecting the texture thing to matter that much, but watery and smooth beats chalky every time for me. Might try the banana trick next week since plain shakes are starting to wear thin.
The texture thing is real - I'm 12 lbs in and chalky shakes were the first thing I dropped. Fairlife works for me too, and blending in frozen mango was my version of the banana trick, keeps it cold and smooth without any powder taste.
Frozen mango is a good call, I've been doing frozen berries in mine and it fixes the texture completely. Fairlife was the only one that didn't feel like a chore on shot nights for me either. The peanut butter powder idea might be worth stealing for when the chocolate gets old.
Only a couple weeks in myself and the chalky ones were instant no's for me too. Fairlife + a handful of frozen pineapple has been my shot night combo, cold enough that I actually look forward to it. If chocolate ever gets boring I'm trying the PB powder thing someone mentioned above.
24 lbs in and I can confirm the Fairlife habit never gets old. My twist lately has been a splash of cold brew with the chocolate one, makes shot nights feel like a treat instead of a task. Way easier to get down than any powder I ever choked back.
Only about 7 lbs in but the cold brew chocolate trick sounds like my kind of hack. I've been blending mine super cold with ice and that alone helps with the texture. Might have to grab some Fairlife after seeing it mentioned so many times here.
Texture is everything for me too, and blending Fairlife with frozen banana got me past the chalky trauma from powders. Cold and smooth beats thick and gritty every time on shot day, especially early in the week when my appetite is weird anyway.
