Ontario here too, and the multi-pharmacy trick is what I'm doing now after one refill left me scrambling. Early days for me, down about 8 lbs, but calling ahead the week before has already saved me twice. The benefits call is on my list now after reading this.
[Canada] Canada telehealth recommendations?
Ontario here too - the two-pharmacy trick from the Manitoba poster is what I ended up doing after a missed refill left me without anything for over a week. Calling ahead by a few days has kept it smooth since, and I'm down 48 lbs so far despite the early hiccups.
Ontario as well, and the coverage part is worth calling about sooner than later - I put it off for months and my insurer covered way more than I assumed. Also found some pharmacies here will put you on a waitlist for refills so you're not cold-calling every month.
US-based so I can't speak to Canadian coverage, but the refill headaches sound universal -- I've had a couple of tense weeks at 5mg waiting on pharmacies here in Indianapolis too. Hope you find a telehealth route that works up there.
Ontario here too. My insurer surprised me the same way once I finally called, and I started asking my pharmacy about standing refill arrangements around the same time, which has been a lifesaver while working toward the 57 lbs I'm down so far.
Also in Ontario and I had the same experience calling my insurer - they covered more than I expected once I actually asked. The refill waitlist thing is real too, my pharmacy holds a dose for me each month and it beats scrambling. Congrats on the 57, I'm at 62 and still pinching myself some days.
Ontario here as well - my insurer came through way more than I expected after one phone call, so definitely worth doing before paying out of pocket. Also down 39 lbs and still get wiped out on shot days, so following that fatigue question.
US based so no help on the Canadian coverage side, but on the fatigue question - my shot days knock me out too, especially at higher doses. I found taking it in the evening and keeping the next day low-key made a big difference for me. Down about 31 lbs and the tiredness has gotten more manageable as my body adjusted.
Ontario here too and I had the same surprise with my insurer, one call changed everything so definitely push on that before paying cash. Down 21 lbs myself and shot-day tiredness hit me less when I switched to evening injections and cleared the next morning.
Frustrating stretches like this happened to me more than once. You're allowed to be annoyed about this, it's a valid feeling.
Ontario here as well, and worth asking your insurer specifically about GLP-1 coverage under your plan rather than the drug name itself, that's what unlocked it for me. I also found evening shots helped with the grogginess, down 44 lbs and the fatigue barely registers now.
Also in Ontario, and seconding the tip about asking insurers about GLP-1 coverage generally instead of naming the drug, that phrasing is what got my plan to cover it too. Down 22 lbs so far and the timing thing is real, evenings work way better for me than mornings ever did.
Ontario too and that insurer phrasing trick is what finally got mine to budge after months of denials. I'm down around 26 lbs and evenings ended up being my sweet spot as well, mornings left me dragging all day.
Ontario as well, and that phrasing around GLP-1 coverage instead of the specific drug is what finally cracked my plan open too after two denials. I ended up doing the same with timing, evenings just fit better and I stopped waking up foggy. Down 58 lbs so far, happy to answer anything sourcing-wise that I ran into.
BC here so no direct sourcing help, but chiming in since my plan also only budged once I asked about GLP-1 coverage broadly instead of naming the med. Evenings ended up being my window too, mornings had me useless all day. Down about 47 lbs if that helps anyone gauge timelines.
Alberta here, but same experience asking my plan about GLP-1 coverage in general rather than the drug by name, that's what flipped my denial too. I also landed on evening injections after mornings wiped me out. Down 81 lbs and happy to share what my sourcing hunt looked like if it helps an Ontario person.
Ontario here too, and funny enough my denial flipped the same way once I asked the plan generally about GLP-1s instead of naming the med. I also settled on evenings for the same reason, mornings left me dragging all day. Down around 45 lbs, so happy to share what my coverage phone calls looked like if that helps.
Ontario here as well and the phone-call angle worked for me too, though I'm only about three pounds in so still early days. One thing I learned digging through my plan's paperwork: asking them to email the coverage criteria in writing made the whole appeal conversation a lot easier. Happy to trade notes on which insurers seemed most flexible if that helps your search.
