i want to get on something because about a year ago i was very lean and muscular and i had an accident that left me unable to train an i got fat and it took a really long time for me to get lean back then and i feel like it would be very beneficial to hop on and get back to where i was a year ago the hop off and i just want to know if there is something that is very negligible that i could take for a year maybe that could get be back down there

17 is really young for these meds, and hopping on then off usually leads to regaining the weight anyway, so that plan might not work the way you're hoping. I'd talk to a doctor about whether it's even appropriate at your age, and about whether your injury limits what training you can do. I dropped weight at 40 with diet changes and whatever movement my body allowed, so it's possible without medication depending on what your doctors say.

You're 17, so honestly the smartest move is talking to a doctor before touching anything like this. GLP-1s can mess with appetite and nutrition at an age when your body is still developing. I know it's frustrating losing progress to an injury, but once you can train again the weight tends to come off faster than it did the first time.

Losing muscle was the scary part for me too when my activity dropped. I found protein intake and whatever movement I could still do mattered more than the shot itself, and I'd want a doctor involved at 17 before starting something like this. The regain after an injury wasn't as permanent as it felt at the time.

Seconding the doctor talk, especially at 17 -- a doc can also clear you on what training your injury actually allows. When I hurt my back I assumed I'd stay heavy, but just cleaning up portions let me drop 20+ lbs before I ever got back in the gym, and recomp went quicker the second time once I could lift again.

Losing muscle and gaining fat from a forced layoff is rough, I've been there, but at 17 your body is still changing and these meds aren't something to take casually at that age. When I finally got moving again after my own injury, the weight came off way faster than the first time I got lean. A doctor who knows your injury history is the right first stop.

Been on a GLP-1 for over a year now and I would not push that on a 17 year old body still developing. The good news is you already know how to get lean once, and the second cut came way faster for me too after my own layoff. Talk to your doctor about the injury and focus on protein and whatever training you can still do until you're older.

Man, I get the frustration of losing an athletic build to an injury, but at 17 I'd honestly hold off on any of this stuff, including the daily shot I'm on. The good news from my own forced layoff years back is that muscle memory is real and the fat came off way quicker than the first time once I could train again. Talk it over with a doctor who knows your injury and see how far rehab and eating right get you first.

I'm down 40 lbs on this stuff and even I would say wait at your age. My metabolism at 17 was a cheat code compared to now, and you already know what it takes to get lean. Let the injury heal, keep protein high, and the weight will come off way easier for you than it does for us old guys.

#10

At 17 I'd really wait, honestly. I've dropped 19 lbs on this stuff as an adult but the appetite suppression hit me hard and I'm glad my body was done developing before I started. Your second cut after an injury will likely come way faster than you think once you can train again.

#11

Lost 38 lbs on this stuff as an adult and I still wouldn't touch it at 17 - messing with appetite while your body's still developing isn't worth the risk. You've already done the hard part once, and like others said, the second time getting lean after an injury goes way faster. Talk to a doctor about your recovery timeline first.

#13

Seconding the wait, honestly. I lost 36 lbs in my 30s and it was way harder than anything at 17 would've been -- your body will bounce back once you can train again, and you've already proven you know how to get there.

#14

Seconding everyone here -- at 17 your recovery speed is the whole advantage, and muscle memory made my own post-injury comeback way faster than the original build. These meds are a long-term thing, not a shortcut for a one-year cut, and quitting once you're lean usually means the weight creeps back anyway. Focus on food and rehab until you can train again.

#15

At 17 your metabolism and hormones are still shifting, so messing with appetite signals now could backfire in ways you can't predict. I started in my 30s and lost 42 lbs, but I'd have waited even longer if I'd been your age -- the muscle memory from before your accident alone will get you most of the way back once you're cleared to train. Focus on protein and staying as active as your recovery allows for now.

#16

You're 17, so your hormones are basically a built-in fat loss drug right now -- I had to grind off 24 lbs in my 30s what would've been way easier at your age. If I were you I'd just focus on protein and eating decent while you heal, then get back under the bar when your body lets you.

#17

At 17 I'd honestly sit tight -- my body responded way faster in my teens than it does now on Saxenda at 3.0, where 7 lbs took real patience. Once your injury heals and you can train again, you'll likely reclaim that physique without any help. This stuff is a long commitment, not a quick cut.

#18

At 17 your body is still developing and these meds are meant for adults, so I'd hold off and talk it over with a doctor before even considering it. Muscle memory is real though - I regained fitness way faster than it took the first time after an injury sidelined me for months. Hang in there, the comeback is usually quicker than you think.

#19

Lost 48 on this stuff myself and it only works while you keep taking it -- coming off usually means the hunger comes roaring back, so the "hop on then hop off" plan doesn't really match how it plays out. At your age I'd wait and lean on rehab and eating right; I rebuilt muscle way faster after my layoff than the first time around.

#20

Down 55 myself and the med is a long-haul thing, not a quick cut - the appetite noise comes right back when you stop. At 17 your rebound speed after an injury is your biggest asset, so I'd just eat well and rehab until you can train again. You'll likely be surprised how fast it comes back.
