17 and want to get on something to lose weight

Down 47 myself and I can tell you the appetite comes back hard when you stop, so the on-then-off plan would likely undo itself. At your age the comeback after an injury is way quicker than the first build -- my own layoff rebound surprised me. Give rehab and consistent eating a real shot first.

The stop-and-restart plan was exactly what I pictured too, then I learned the hunger signals come right back once you're off. Down about 20 myself and it only holds as long as I stay on it. At 17 your body will probably snap back once you can train again -- mine did after my layoff.

Honestly the "use it for a year then hop off" part is the flaw in the plan - my hunger came roaring back around week three off and I had to work way harder to hold my 45 than I expected to lose it. Also at 17 your hormones are still doing their own thing, and nobody here really knows how these meds interact with a body that's still developing, so that's a conversation for an actual doctor if you ever go that route. My money's still on your rehab plus training getting you back faster than you think.

Every reply here is saying the same thing for good reason -- I'm down 31 and the plan only works while I stay on it, so the hop-off part is the weak link. But honestly at 17 the bigger issue is that nobody in this thread, me included, knows how these meds mess with a body still developing. That part really does need a doctor, not a forum.

Dropped 57 myself and can confirm the appetite stuff doesn't really fade after you stop, so the temporary plan likely won't hold. The accident part I get though -- losing your training routine wrecked me too. Once I could lift again the weight started coming off faster than any med helped, and at your age that rebound could be even quicker.

Lost 38 myself and the med was only half the equation -- the other half was rebuilding habits I could keep once the appetite suppression wore off. At 17 your metabolism and recovery are already on your side, so getting back to training as you heal might honestly get you there without needing this at all. If you still want to explore it later, do it with a doctor who knows your age and injury history, not a forum.

Down 62 on tirzepatide myself and the shutdown part is real -- appetite comes roaring back and the weight can too. At 17 with an injury, the smartest move is probably getting cleared to train again and letting your age work for you before considering anything like this.
