Only 12 lbs in so far but my corgi already adjusted to the new walk pace and acts like I owe him extra loops around the block. Cats really do just show up when the lap gets more comfortable.

My tabby has claimed the recliner now that sitting still is actually comfortable, so we're negotiating over it daily. Only a few pounds in so far but the dog already acts like the slower evening walks are a personal upgrade. Pets adjust faster than we do, honestly.
My lab used to sulk on slow walks but now he's the one setting the pace, like he finally accepted this is the new normal. Down 32 and he's the only one who never doubted it would happen. The cat still acts like nothing changed, which feels right.
My beagle spent the first months acting betrayed by the slower pace, but somewhere around the 40 lb mark he decided slow walks mean more sniffing time, so now he's the enthusiastic one. Meanwhile the cat has only gotten heavier, which feels like some kind of cosmic balance.
My shepherd used to drag on walks and now she gets visibly excited when I grab the leash, like she can tell the pace is different. The dog has definitely noticed I can keep up longer. Meanwhile the cat remains unimpressed by all of it, as cats do.
My mutt hit the jackpot around the 43 lb mark because now walks end at the creek where she can splash around while I catch my breath. She's basically training me at this point. The cat, naturally, has gained sympathy weight off my leftovers.
