Fast tempo stuff works for me too, except I save true crime podcasts for walks only and it's honestly the only reason I hit my step goal some days. 11 lbs in and the routine matters more than the pace at this point. Cheap trick but it works.
Music that keeps you moving
Down 32 lbs and the walk-only trick has been my whole system too. I queue up long audiobooks I'm not allowed to touch at home, so on days I skip the walk I'm stuck on a cliffhanger. True crime would probably work the same way for me.
Only a few pounds in so far but I've been doing the same gatekeeping thing with a fantasy series I only listen to on walks, and it's wild how much easier it is to get out the door when a chapter is waiting. Might grab one of those high BPM playlists too since my pace drags on hill days.
Down 42 lbs and the cliffhanger trick is still carrying me, mostly drum and bass playlists that are way too fast to keep up with, which somehow works. The gatekeeping idea is next on my list once I run out of music.
Only a couple pounds in myself but the too-fast playlist thing rings true - I run drum and bass on hill days and even if my pace never matches it, my feet kind of stop dragging. Saving the audiobook gatekeeping idea for when I burn out on music.
Down 48 lbs and I'm the opposite camp - true crime podcasts, because a good episode makes an hour disappear. The cliffhanger rule applies there too, I always stop mid-episode so the next walk has a hook waiting.
